Saltwater
Kingfish
Kingfish continue to be most anglers’ target over the last week. Good numbers have been caught through the Derwent River, North West Bay, Blackmans Bay and further afield along the East Coast from Port Arthur to St Helens. The rain and cooler weather may slow the bite over the coming week.
Sand Flathead
Have been fishing well, with good numbers and sizes tending to be larger than average in the Marion Bay and Dunalley area.
Australian Salmon
Salmon (2-3kg) have been caught over the last week around the Iron Pot, NWB, Oakhampton Bay and Coles Bay. The best Lure has been a good old 30gr Silver Slice.
Garfish
Good reports of some decent size and numbers being caught in the Lune River, Norfolk Bay and Derwent.
Snapper
Are Starting to appear in Storm Bay and a few spots in the Channel.
Calamari
The rain may make the squid a little harder in the next week. Numbers have been steady in the Lower Derwent around Blackmans Bay, South Arm and Bruny.
King Gorge Whiting
Georges Bay has been fishing well for both shore anglers and from the boat.
Tuna
Bluefin, Albacore and Striped Tuna have all been caught inshore the last few days. Reports of Bluefin being caught on the east coast in three meters of water last week.
Competitors in the Tuna Club of Tasmania’s Spot On Shimano Light Line Shootout found fishing fairly hard but still managed some good Bluefin and Albacore.
Mackerel
Large numbers have been widely reported.
Bream
The Derwent continues to fish incredibly well the last week. From The Tasman Bridge to the Bridgewater Bridge.
Freshwater
Lake Pedder
Has been producing good numbers of fish and there are reports that the quality of fish has been impressive for the normal average size.
Great Lake
Lead line trolling has been reported to be the best method last week. Let’s hope the rain and cooler temps bring the trout off the bottom and more willing to feed.
Dee Lagoon
Station Bay and Hill 42 have been fishing quite well for both drift spinning and trolling.
