Saltwater

Sand flathead were caught in most areas last weekend. Storm and Marion Bays producing fish.

Southern Calamari starting to appear from Coles Bay in the east to Southport in the southeast.

Southern Bluefin tuna still running well at Pirates and Fortescue Bays. Tuna about 15 – 20 kg were also seen jumping at The Nuggets on Freycinet Peninsula last week.

King George whiting are running around Bridport and north coast.

Tiger flathead still a bit quiet but weather has not been too conducive for a good drift. Fish are rumoured to be moving in the south east. Wider Storm Bay would be worth a try.

Flounder a few have been speared in the last week between breezy days.

Garfish being taken with the use of burley around the south east with really good winter sea gars being taken throughout the channel.

Freshwater

Lake Leake still producing good browns and rainbows to 3kg. Weather conditions have been gusty in this region over the last week and water is still stirred up and murky.

Tooms Lake sees fish starting to move on Galaxias. Reports last weekend had the first of the duns appearing. Fish to 2kg both brown and rainbows taken last week.

Penstock continues to fish well from shore and boat with a few tailing fish pushing in at dusk.

Great Lake has turned a corner and has had good fish taken along its shoreline and also from the boat. Trollers and bait fishers doing the best in the last week.

No reports from Arthurs Lake this week.

Bronte Lagoon has picked up a little in the last week with many fishers being successful from both the shore and boat … fly and spin taking fish.

Norm Cribbin’s nice fat Rainbow trout from Penstock Lagoon last Sunday, one of two fish he caught pulling a team of wets.

The one in the photo fell to an Olive/Fuchsia Bitch pattern, the other ate a Magoo.

More fish from Penstock: Rhys Long with the best of many browns for the day and Sam Shelley with the best Rainbow from the same trip.
