Bluefin Tuna – Maria island, Bicheno, St Helens, Schouten Island, Eaglehawk Neck and Pedra Branca all continue to provide reliable catch rates of bluefin tuna. Tuna have been a little quiete this week compared to the past few. Zacatak pusher lures working well and Halco 190 Laser Pro in the DD (Deep Diver).

Broadbill Swordfish – a few donuts for anglers taking advantage of the good weather and trying for swordfish in the SE but a two notable in St Helens and Bicheno waters – proving fish are still there for the moment.

Striped Trumpeter – good reports of fish in relatively shallow water this week, Bicheno, Schouten Island, Friars and Pedra Branca proving to be the hot spots for catching one of these amazing table fish.

Snotty Trevalla – reports of Snotties been caught throughout the Derwent and around Betsy Island in the last week – try a little burley for good results.

Perch – there are good numbers of these fish being caught on inshore reefs at Eaglehawk Neck at the moment.  Small strong circle hooks and fresh squid/octopus as bait has been working well.

Couta – are in plague numbers around Triabunna and Coles bay with anglers losing lots of bottom rigs due to bite offs.  If your chasing a feed of flathead up that way make sure to use wire at the moment or expect to lose a lot of gear.

Sea Run Trout – a few good pictures of Sea runners up to 6lb have come in this week with reports of a good amount of bait in the river and fish seen actively chasing it.  Presso minnows in Ghost Perch have been wreaking havoc on local populations for the spin fisherman. While the Risely Articulated Leech and Lost Fly Glister Bait have had great results for the fly fisher.

Striped Trumpeter need to be 55cm to be legal size and a bag limit of 4 applies.

DPIPWEs Tasmanian Recreational Fishing Survey
For a better fishing future

What do you think recreational sea fishing should look like in 2030?

DPIPWE would like your help identifying what's important as a first step in developing a 10 year strategy to shape our state's fishing future.

They know you'd rather be fishing, so this survey will only take about 10 minutes of your time.

The survey is open until midnight on Sunday, 19 July and all responses are anonymous.
