Fishing Report 06/02/2020

Saltwater

Swordfish – with a few rumours floating about of swordfish hooked up today it was confirmed with an awesome sword caught out of Eaglehawk Neck.

Tuna – albacore and bluefin continue to be thick with good numbers of fish being caught around the Hippolyte and on the edge of the shelf

Makos – large numbers of makos being caught along the east coast

Kingfish – a few kingfish caught and a lot seen throughout the Derwent river on the weekend

Calamari – are a bit hit and miss at the moment with a few days of hot action been followed by a lot of quite days.

Australian Salmon – still no reports seriously where have these gone?

Freshwater

Arthurs Lake – good reports of fish being caught on mayfly patterns in the middle of the day, trollers have been doing well trolling around the islands.

Penstock – a lot of fish rising but playing hard to get

Great lake – Fish are in amazing condition and all fishing methods are proving to be effective

Lake Sorell – The big news this week is that lake Sorell is officially opening to fishing on the 8th February after many years of intense work from the Inland Fisheries Carp Management Program.  This will be a great opportunity for anglers to reunite themselves with this once iconic lake and a good chance for a new generation of anglers to experience Lake Sorell for the first time.
