Fishing Report 08/11/2019

Saltwater

Striped Trumpeter
got off to a great star this week with fish being caught in Peninsula waters and further south around Bruny Island. Fish to 6kg being landed.

Southern Bluefin
tuna have resurfaced and have been landed at 105kg off Fortescue Bay and sighted up to 140-150kg. Another rumour puts school size fish of around 15 -25kg in the area as well.

Silver Trevally
seemed to be caught throughout the Derwent and Prosser Rivers. They have been smashing soft plastic minnows.

Sand Flathead

Rock Lobster
are now open in the southern region of the rock lobster fishery, Southport and Recherche Bay producing good hauls last weekend. The SE and E coast stock rebuilding zone remains closed until December.

Bream
still biting through all estuaries in the SE. Activity on the E coast is confined to Swan port for the time being.

Mega Calamari
are still on the chew Storm Bay and the Channel producing 600mm hood specimens.

Australian Salmon
are about enforce. Fish along southern surf beaches such as Goats up to 3kg.

Freshwater

Pine Tier Lagoon
has been fishing well … any spinner styled lure that is bright and flashy doing the trick – 7grm Tasmanian Devils in 50, 51 and 106 taking fish recently. The fish in this water aren’t usually big but they are fit and great to eat. Reports of Early Morning Midge feeders and Late morning Mayfly feeders.

Arthurs
has had some encouraging reports lately mainly to those using the fly around the edges. Fish to 2.5kg have been landed to those using mayfly patterns in the vicinity of Cow paddock Bay. Lure fisherman have also done well fishing soft plastics in amongst the trees.

Echo
Trollers have faired well around the edge of the timber stands … standouts being Tasmanian Devil No 48 13.5grm and Jazz 70mm Black and Gold minnows trolled a full cast length behind the boat.
