Fishing Report 26/7/2019

Bluefin Tuna have been a little quiet this week but captures of fish up to 25kg have been made in and around the Hippolytes and Fortescue Bay areas.

Morwong Perch have been caught over structure throughout Storm Bay, Pirates Bay and Marion Bays.

Striped Trumpeter this week have made an appearance with fish up to 700mm long taken south of Bruny Island and in Peninsula waters.

Sth Calamari have reappeared after the rough weather of recent weeks – Margate Jetty and Southport have both reported captures.

Sea Run trout have come on hard this week with the onset of snow melt in the Derwent and Huon estuaries – these fish have been really active later in the day …. try the higher tide around Tasman Bridge to Bowen Bridge area.

Bream readily available around Cornelian Bay and Lindisfarne areas.

Australian Salmon a little quiet again this week but would no doubt would still be available at Cremorne. Also mid- winter runs should be occurring along many of the eastern and southern surf beaches.

Trout reports from the highlands have been light on this week due to the heavy snowfalls. With the start of the 2019/20 trout season starting Saturday week 3rd of August anglers will be keen to hit highland areas for some early season trout fun.

Remember to check you leader materials, braids and fly lines for wear and tear. These items break down over time and there is nothing worse than loosing a good fish because of rotten leader.
