Fishing Report 30/4/19

Scallops
Scallop season is in full swing with most people finding a feed.

Snapper
Reasonable numbers of small snapper continue to be caught throughout the Storm Bay area with fresh bait proving to be the most popular method.

Bream
Bream continue to fire in a lot of spots with good reports coming from the Derwent and Swan River.

Tuna
On the weekend the Tuna Club of Tasmania held the Tom Jenkins memorial Bluefin contest, unfortunately due to bad weather day 1 was cancelled but day 2 turned it on with 25 bluefin weighed and 12 tagged. Now is the time to go if you want to tackle one of these awesome fish.

Trout
Sadly most brown trout waters closed on the weekend after what has been a great season, but for those people still looking to get a trout fix the below waters are still open.

Our pick would be the River Derwent with reports starting to come in of sea runners in the lower reaches and the river now open all the way to the New Norfolk bridge this allows for plenty of shore access and a great opportunity close to home to catch a trout and likely some great bi-catch in the process.

Flathead
The weather hasn’t been the best the last week but flathead still seem to be around in good numbers in Frederick Henry Bay.

A recent weird capture by staff member rob believed to be either an elephant snail or sea slug.

Bream are still available in good numbers.
