Fishing Report 27/9/2019

Bream – continue to be schooled up in tidal lagoons and rivers getting ready to spawn.

Australian Salmon – have started to show up in good numbers off many east coast beaches with reports coming in from as far south as Southport.  These should only improve over the coming months as the water warms.

Garfish – Continue to go well in shallower lagoons. Powdery Burley is the key to success here. A lot of people are having success at night looking for these while floundering.

Flounder – Calm nights are still resulting in many people doing well on the flounder.

Couta – smaller Couta have invaded the lower Derwent estuary with good numbers being caught.

Flathead – Flathead catch rates are on the up with people reporting good fish being caught in deeper water around the 40m mark. 

Trout – Brown trout are going well at the moment with good numbers of sea runners starting to be caught in the Derwent river above Bridgewater.  Woods, Echo and Bronte have all fired up with people reporting good bags of healthy fish. 

Mullet – anglers reporting good captures of these while trying to catch sea runners.

Wrasse – are a great option for those wanting to test there gear.  These Hard fighting fish can be found off most rock points with bait and Scented soft plastics being the most productive.

Matt with a fine specimen of one of Tasmania’s most underrated sports fish the Blue throat Wrasse.
