Fishing Report 20/9/2019

Flathead
have started to pick up in the last week with good numbers of fish starting to be caught.  Marion Bay has started to produce good numbers of Sand Flathead and reports from further north around bicheno have filtered in of king or Tiger flathead being caught

Mullet
have been plaguing fisherman in the Derwent River lately.  A bit a burley to bring them in and some bread as bait should result in good catches.

Bream
have continued to be caught in large numbers in various tidal inflows like Browns River.

Sea Trout
have shown up in force in the Derwent river with good numbers of fish been caught from Old Beach to New Norfolk.

Brown Trout
good reports from Bronte, Arthurs and Great lake filtering in the week with fish having been found patrolling the edges looking for both frogs and galaxias.

Calamari
continue to go well around Bruny Island and inside Maria Island

Couta
are in plague proportions in the Derwent River, fish are rather small and have been attacking any small flashy lure or fly.

Australian Salmon
have started to show up in various estuary’s around the state, small Halco silver slice lures and baitfish style soft plastics have been working well.

Tailor
have been encountered in the Huon River. Size has been around 500grm.

Anna with a really well conditioned Woods Lake brown trout taken on fly last weekend.
