Saltwater

Tuna
There are plenty of Bluefin from Eaglehawk Neck through to Schouten. The fish have been hard at times when chasing smaller bait. The best solution to combat this is to drop down your lure sizes or even cast smaller lures at fish busting up.

Calamari
Have been very quiet with not many reports filtering through. If you are going to chase them deeper water would be worth a look.

Searun trout
It’s been good week for searunners with many fish caught. Reports coming from Lindisfarne right through to above the New Norfolk bridge. The Daiwa Presso 60mm Ghost Perch doing the damage down lower and sandies and big soft plastics working well up higher.

Bream
Browns River and Lauderdale Canal have been fishing well but the weekend rain may have affected this.

Snotties and Garfish
Definitely worth a look down the channel at this time of year around any of the jetties. Burley with a mix breadcrumbs and tuna oil. Bread dough makes good bait for the gars and squid for the snotties.

Trout Report

Cold weather over the weekend has slowed things down a little in the highlands. Fishing tends to better in the afternoon as the water has a chance to warm up a little during the day.

Woods continues to be the pick of the highland waters with trolling cobras or spinning Rapala’s producing fish.

However the pick of trout fishing spots would still have to be the Derwent.

Also the lower lakes like Meadowbank, Cluny and Repulse are worth a look as they are lower and slightly warmer making the fish more active.

Interstate angler Mark with a nice Pine brown trout.
