Fishing Report 13/6/2019

Bream
Very plentiful up river at the moment, recent rains have allowed these fish to move further down the river for the moment and are feeding well. Little Swanport might be worth a try if you want a change of scenery. Closer to Hobart Browns River has been fishing very well.

Flathead
Were caught in good numbers and good size in Storm Bay and Marion Bay over the weekend owing to the reasonably settled weather allowing anglers to get out.

Snapper
Are still biting in Storm Bay.

Calamari
Larger than average Calamari biting well on the east coast and in the southern areas. The big swells have kept fish quiet but the recent calm weather has allowed the fish to move inshore.

Garfish
Have returned in their usual winter numbers and size and have been responding well to small baits and burley. Best spots Sth Arm and Bruny Island also Norfolk and Blackman Bay.

Elephant fish
Reports of Elephant fish at McGee s Bridge over the weekend.

Tuna
Southern Blue fin in big numbers from Tasman Island to Maria Island and further north to Bicheno. Maria island is well worth a look. Further north try Schouten Island as well.

Albacore
Almost non existent and may have gone for the year.

Mako
A Mako shark was taken on the shelf wide of Pirates Bay on the weekend.

Searunners
Sea trout have been stealing the limelight in the lower reaches of the Derwent and Huon Rivers. Alex persevering in average conditions on Saturday for some quality fish.

Inland
Craigebourne Dam has had good numbers of 1.3 kg Browns and Rainbows released recently and is fishing very well.

Nice early season River Derwent sea run trout.
