Fishing Report 20/6/2019

Lipless minnows are a great option for targeting bream in shallow water

Last weekend saw a 240kg Swordfish caught wide off Eagle Hawk Neck - its been suspected that these fish were running a little late this year and this capture may confirm this.

Bream again are featuring heavily in the Huon and Derwent estuaries - some great captures have occurred on the Yum 3 Inch Walleye Grub in Green Pumpkin and Black and Silver.

Flounder many still nights made it possible for anglers to get out for a lighting session …. some good reports from Bruny and east coast coming to hand in recent days.

Mega calamari are still available.

Mackerel are schooling around coastal jetties and hitting natural baits presented just under the surface.

Mako shark caught off the shelf at Eagle Hawk Neck estimated size around 110kg. Maybe still worth a try.

Striped Trumpeter have been a little quiet but good reports from further South have seen fish taken around Pedra Blanca and the Acteons.

Barracouta up to 500mm have been caught throughout the Derwent - boaters around Taroona and Alum Cliffs catching sizeable numbers while trolling for Australian Salmon.

Australian Salmon in reasonable numbers at Cremorne, Pipeclay Lagoon - size up to 1.5kg.

Mackeral are fine winter fare …. try a Vietnamese wok style for best results …. you may be surprised.
