Fishing Report 25/10/2019
Saltwater
Sand Flathead
are still a little patchy some anglers doing well while others are not finding them. Reports of undersize fish dominating captures and being worked through in order to find some keepers.
Tiger Flathead
no reports this week.
Australian Salmon
up to 1.5kg southern surf beaches around South Arm - Pidgeon Holes still working well. Lots of fish in the upper Derwent with underneath the Tasman bridge and Bellerive Bluff being hot spots.
Mullet
responded well to burley in the Denison Canal at Dunalley recently.
Tailor
available to a huge size for Tasmania, at the moment …. Fish up to 450mm long available from New Norfolk to the mouth of the Derwent River. Good spots to concentrate around would be Old Beach to Tranmere. Halco silver slice lures … in the 25grm range being the go.
Bream
are smashing bait along with the seatrout around the many rocky shorelines of the Derwent and Huon Rivers. Windemere Bay has seen recent captures on both hard body lures and soft plastics.
Southern Bluefin
tuna have gone quiet again.
Perch
were recently caught over reefy bottom off Marion Bay.
Calamari
are stealing the limelight a little over recent weeks with some huge fish appearing to spawn. Reports and photos of 500mm hoods have surfaced from in and around Storm Bay in the South.
Seatrout
this week have really gone well with the Derwent River coming alive and from what we are hearing the Huon and Lune Rivers as well. Bait is thick and seatrout are gorging themselves. Some fantastic captures have been made. Bait Lure and Fly get out there!
Freshwater
Bronte Lagoon
good numbers of fish around 2lb have been caught both trolling and spinning from the shore. Daiwa Pressos and Tillins Lures have both been stand outs. Fly Fisherman have been finding good fish walking the shores – stick caddis, fur flies and red tags have been a popular choice.
Lake Echo
good numbers of fish have been caught fishing soft plastics in amongst the trees. There has been reports of good numbers of fish taking mayflies in the shallower bays on warm days.
Lake Leake
the water in incredibly low and discoloured and boating is not recommended but good numbers of larger than average rainbows and browns have been caught spinning from the shore.
Lake Pedder
good hatches of midge in the morning has made for good early fly fishing with the fish quietening down mid morning. Lures have been productive all day with good bags being caught on smaller black/gold and black/silver lures.
