Hobart Show Day Fishing Tips 2019

Hobart Show Day Fishing Tips

Use the weather
The East coast is fairly good in the morning with some strong to Fresh N to NE winds forecast to build around 9-10am. In short try and fish early to avoid the windy stuff. In the highland winds are light during the morning and becoming fresh NW in the afternoon.

Concentrate on species we know are fishing well
Presently this would be Australian Salmon, Seatrout and Bream, Calamari , Flathead and whiting.

Don’t travel too far
Spring is a great time to simply start close to home as fish stocks haven’t been pressured enough to warrant going further distance.

Sunscreen and polarised sunglasses
One will help prevent you from being burnt to a crisp and the other is good for your eyes, reducing harmful glare, and also allows you to see into the water for fish.

Be flexible
Have tackle with you that will allow you to change tactics quickly and fish for something else if things are a tad quiet or another species pops its head up.

The Derwent estuary is a great starting point
As it offers many platforms in the way of jetties and rocky points to fish from and a host of species from trout to the more exotic saltwater fish.

Get to boat ramps early
As they will be busy with the forecast, and be prepared before you arrive. Avoid delaying others that may be ready to go.

Be safe
Take a first aid kit in case of a cut or spike and if boating make sure above all else life jackets are worn, then ensure other required safety items are present.

Have fun!
