Fishing Report 5/7/2019

Flathead still available in Storm Bay, Mercury Passage and Schouten areas.

Australian salmon behind the surf break at Hopes Beach SE of Hobart and Adventure Bay on Bruny Island. Smaller fish are schooling close to river mouths and coastal inlets like Cremorne.

Perch or Morwong are being taken over broken bottom on the Peninsula. Munroe Bight and the The Thumbs are a good starting point.

Southern Bluefin are still in good numbers - some days are better than others but fish can usually be found. The Monkeys at Tasman Island, Hippolytes. Maria Island and the Schouten / Bicheno area are seeing healthy numbers of tuna as well.

Striped Trumpeter a little quiet owing to the bad weather this week.

Bream have moved further upriver with the onset of the rain and influx of freshwater - these fish are still very accessible further down as well.

Pike around in reasonable numbers over rocky reef bottom along the eastern shore of Derwent and wider channel area.

Snotty Trevalley have been caught throughout the Port Huon area - rumoured catches from Battery Point jetty in the Derwent.

Sea trout are moving and feeding well in both the mid reaches of the Huon and Derwent estuaries.

Flounder still plentiful - the new moon phase and some upcoming still weather will see these fish moving of a night.
