Fishing Report 15/4/19

The fishing has been great leading in to Easter, below is a round up of what has been happening:

  • Derwent River is loaded with Bream and Browns River smashing both hard body and soft plastics.

  • Flathead being taken on soft plastics in most sandy shallow areas

  • Tiger Flathead still being caught – Mid E Coast.

  • Sand Whiting plentiful in the majority of coastal bays and inlets in the SE. Particularly plentiful in Fredrick Henry Bay. Best bait squid pieces and muscle.

  • Rock Lobster still potting well in most areas.

  • Calamari concentrating in numbers in most areas over the seagrass beds.

  • Bluefin to 120kg and good “schoolies” averaging 20 – 28kg around the Eaglehawk Neck and Fortescue Bay areas.

  • The odd Albacore tuna being taken inshore around Tasman Island – fish up to 20kg have been landed.
