Tasmanian Fishing Report 24/11/22
Greeny landing a nice brown in the timber at Arthurs.
Good fishing to be had between the wind gusts!
Freshwater
Lake Crescent – Big fish continue to be caught on an assortment of lures and flies. Targeting fish feeding on galaxias is the most productive method with the lure of choice lately being the presso 95sp.
Bronte Lagoon – trolling the middle weed beds has been super productive with good numbers of fish being caught. A good number of fish have been active on the edges early in the morning for those keen to get up at sunrise.
Arthurs Lake – continues to fish really well around the edges with good numbers of fish being caught. Drift spinning the islands is very productive with hawk snipers and Daiwa infeet sazanami 60sp lures catching really well.
Little Pine Lagoon – A few tailers are still being caught but have slowed down a lot. No mayfly action yet.
Lake Echo – good fish being caught on fly in the shallows feeding on worms, while lure anglers have been finding drift spinning and trolling around the back shore very productive.
Penstock – Duns have started but are very patchy and anglers have found it very hard to get good numbers of fish with a lot of anglers blanking.
Salt Water
Australian Salmon
Good numbers of smaller fish in most waters around Tas at the moment. Size ranges from 200gr to around the 1kg.
Tailor
A few reports of Tailor in the Derwent at the moment. Around the Tasman Bridge, Regatta grounds and Battery Point seem to be really good spots to come across the fish. Larger bibbed minnows such as the Storm Slo Run Heavy
Bream
The upper Derwent and Huon are seeing good numbers of smaller bream caught on bait, lure and Fly. The fish will continue to move down river and back into the usual haunts.
Flathead
With the weather being poor over the last week the Flathead have been a little quiet, this maybe because less anglers are targeting them or the fishing has slowed.
Tuna
Pedra Branca has been fishing extremely well with good numbers of large school Bluefin mixed in with larger models. Around Eagle Hawk has been very very quiet.
Calamari
The East Coast and southern regions are getting better as the rain slows and the water clears. Deeper water around 8m to 10m seems to be the best fishing at the moment.
Striped Trumpeter
The fishing has been fairly consistent, fish have been caught on shallower reefs and starting to appear on the deeper reefs. Slow jigging has still been out fishing conventional bait rigs.
